About ImaginAND

Building a meaning layer for better decisions

ImaginAND is developing meaning intelligence: technology designed to help organisations interpret language, surface contradictions and identify forms of ethical, symbolic or strategic drift that can weaken trust, compliance and decision quality.

The venture brings together two complementary capabilities. Dr David Atkinson contributes the research foundation, developed through decades of work across engineering, entrepreneurship, critical management studies and judgement under uncertainty. Rian Patel and Veda contribute the product, commercial and technology capability required to turn that foundation into usable systems.

The result is not another general-purpose AI assistant. ImaginAND is being developed as an interpretive layer for environments in which language, institutional context and responsibility matter.

Why ImaginAND exists

Modern AI systems can process more language than any human team, but scale does not automatically produce judgement. Important decisions can be undermined by contradiction, ambiguous responsibility, ethical drift, strategic misalignment or language that means different things to different parts of an institution. ImaginAND exists to make those hidden tensions more visible.

The thesis

Language is not merely information; it carries assumptions, values, relationships and consequences. When systems process language without understanding contradictions, context or institutional meaning, important decisions can be quietly undermined.

A combined venture

ImaginAND combines an original research programme with practical product and engineering capability. Dr David Atkinson’s work examines judgement, responsibility and institutional behaviour in complex, technology-enabled environments. Veda, led by Rian Patel, provides the venture-building, software and AI capability required to translate those ideas into an operational platform.

The people behind the venture

The venture

Principles

Responsibility

The system assists interpretation; people remain the accountable decision-makers.

Interpretability

Surfaced tensions should be explainable, traceable and open to challenge.

Context

Language is read within its institutional setting, not as isolated text.

Disciplined implementation

Technology is applied only where there is a clear operational or commercial reason.

No AI theatre

Capability is described as it is — in development, in testing or working today.

Where it may be applied

Defence and security, institutional decision-making, governance, risk, strategy and selected civilian contexts. Read more on where meaning intelligence may matter, explore the research behind it or experience the live demo.
